While in Hamilton, Cheryl was also very involved as the Vice President of the Bay Area Restoration Council, a local Non-profit Organisation formed in 1991 and tasked with restoring and protecting Hamilton Harbour and its watershed. BARC works with stakeholders to create a multi-use Harbour that balances vibrant and diverse ecosystems with opportunities for public recreation along a bay that is the economic engine of the region.
